Have you ever looked over at that heart on the right side of the blog and said to yourself, “I wonder what that’s for?”
Or have you ever said to yourself, “That Lori, she is one awesomely philanthropic broad who likes flashy things, I bet there’s a story behind that heart that involves fundraising and sequins.”
Or have you ever said to yourself, “When was the last time I changed the oil in the car?”
I can’t actually help you with that last one, but if it’s one of the other two…
A year ago (technically, 13 months ago) I launched a fundraiser for the American Stroke Association. In memory of my amazing grandmother, and to “share” the world’s tackiest accessory, a sequined, zebra-striped handbag by the name Pursey Galore has been traveling the country from blogger to blogger, raising awareness and money for the ASA.
And her time is almost at an end.
Two events remain for Pursey (and, to her dismay, red carpet openings of the newest Brad Pitt project are not amongst them).
The first: A Wine and Fundraising Tweet-a-thon!
Yes, you heard me. Wine and twitter and fundraising. The ONLY thing that could make that better is if I could somehow make your email deliver actual chocolate, right?
So I want YOU (and you, and you and you!) to be on Twitter at 6 pm PST/9 pm EST this Wednesday for a Project:Purse and Boots tweet-a-thon sponsored by the amazing women from Have Wine, Will Drink. (website currently under construction, but you could go bookmark it!) There will be wine-talk (or wine-o talk – sometimes it’s hard to tell), badgering people lovingly for cash, and prizes! Yes, prizes! Wine charms from the wonderful Wine With Charms and wine donations from the Have Wine, Will Drink crew!

Wonderful idea! I lost my grandfather two years ago after succumbing to a stroke from 5 years earlier. Bed ridden, unable to do anything for himself, it was a struggle to watch him endure. I will try my best to make it to this twitter party in support.

I will be there with bells on! Not only did we have a fabulous time with Pursey.. my little diva fell in love with her sparkles… but now the cause is very near & dear to my heart. One of my favorite family members is lying in a hospital bed dying b/c of a fatal stroke.
